A severe disappointment for the Israeli defense industry and dozens of companies: France has canceled the country’s participation in the major arms and defense exhibition Eurosatory, which will open on June 17 in Villepinte near Paris.

The French Ministry of Defense and the exhibition organizers, COGES, announced that in accordance with the government’s decision, there will be no Israeli pavilion at Eurosatory 2024.

Israeli Minister Benny Gantz discussed the issue with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and urgently requested a reconsideration of the decision, calling it unacceptable and  “a reward for terrorism.”

The French Ministry of Defense informed Reuters that the conditions for hosting Israeli companies at the exhibition are not met at this time, as the president calls on Israel to cease the operation in Rafah."

Earlier this week, Emmanuel Macron expressed his outrage over Israeli airstrikes that killed 45 people in a tent camp near Rafah. Macron stated that "a ceasefire is needed to ensure the protection of Gaza's residents, the return of hostages, and full access to aid in Gaza."

Eurosatory is one of the largest arms exhibitions in the world. According to Le Monde, 74 Israeli companies were set to participate in the exhibition, which will feature 1,700 companies from 150 countries and attract 60,000 visitors.
