"Significant increase in the scope, sophistication and complexity of cyber threats"

"The Cyber ​​threat is global," says Head of the Israeli National Cyber ​​Bureau Dr. Eviatar Matania at the opening plenary of CyberTech 2015 in Tel Aviv. More than 5000 people have already attended and taking part in the conference and exhibition

"We are witnessing a significant increase in cyber threats, in terms of the scope of the attacks, their sophistication and complexity, and we believe that the threat is global", said Head of the Israeli National Cyber ​​Bureau (INCB) Dr. Eviatar Matania at the opening plenary of CyberTech 2015 in Tel Aviv, the largest cyber conference held today and tomorrow in Tel Aviv, organized by IsraelDefense with the sponsorship of the INCB.

Attending the conference are thousands of cyber ​​experts from Israel and delegations from around the globe. Alongside the conference, a professional exhibition in being held, in which the major industries and young start-up companies present a huge range of solutions for protecting against cyber attacks.

Matania further added that the Israeli government has decided that every government ministry will allocate eight percent of its budget for cyber security investments. In addition, the government adopted the recommendations of the INCB to formulate a strategy for the next decade, mobilize the capabilities of the civil, private and defense sectors to ensure the cyber security and to establish of a national cyber operations center (CERT) which collects intelligence, identifies threats and outlines methods and technologies for dealing with cyber threats.

According to Dr. Eviatar Matania, Israel can serve as a global center of knowledge in the fields of cyber. It has many years of experience in these fields and an extensive knowledge in industry and academia. The Israeli industries are exporting knowledge, services and solutions in the amount of $3 billion a year, while the government is investing $75 million in the establishment of five cyber centers in Israel. The first center has been aleady running in Beersheba, with the help of huge companies like Lockheed Martin and IBM, and that is where the national CERT will operate.

The conference was opened by Amir Rapaport, editor-in-chief and founder of IsraelDefense, and by the Conference Chairman Dr. Yossi Vardi.
