The Hungarian media reports that the ELM-2084 radars, manufactured by the Israeli company IAI-Elta, have arrived in Hungary and are operational within the Hungarian army, specifically at the radar squadron of the Hungarian Defense Forces Air Operation Command and Control Center. The Hungarian source indicates that the new radars come in different configurations. Therefore, in addition to their roles in airspace control and gap-filling, they will also be suitable for air defense and artillery weapon location (WLR) missions.
In late 2020, the Hungarian Armed Forces signed a deal to purchase ELM-2084 radar systems made by the Israeli company ELTA, a subsidiary of IAI. These new systems will replace old air defense radars that have been in service since Soviet times, such as the P-37, PRV-17, and ST-68U.
