Defense Minister Moshe (Bogie) Ya'alon decided to appoint Maj. Gen. (ret.) Udi Adam as Director-General of the Defense Ministry, replacing Maj. Gen. (ret.) Dan Harel, who recently announced his decision to leave his post.

The appointment of Adam, who is 58 years old, still requires the approval of both the committee for senior appointments and the government.

Udi Adam is currently chair of IMI systems. He served for 30 years in a variety of combat and command positions in the Israel Defense Forces, including head of the Northern Command –a post which he held during the Second Lebanon War, ten years ago.
