On board the INS Rahav are 50 staff members of the Navy, along with a senior naval officer and the submarine commander. The submarine has left Germany and is expected to arrive in Haifa naval base in about a month

INS Rahav is making its way from Kiel, Germany to the Navy base in Haifa, to which it will arrive in about a month. On board the submarine are 50 crew members of the Navy, along with a senior naval officer and the submarine commander.

En route to Israel the submarine will stop at the site of where the INS Dakar sunk to the ocean floor for a memorial ceremony.

A senior officer in the Navy said the INS Rahav, like the INS Tanin, has AIP capability. The officer explained that "these (AIP) fuel cells can take hydrogen and oxygen and produce a long stay underwater. Therefore the submarine, as a second submarine with this capability, significantly reinforces the Navy ".
