Israel Conditions Cease-Fire with Hostage Release

Over 2,500 terrorist targets have been attacked since Israel began its ground maneuver

"We will reach Yahya Sinwar and eliminate him," Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, promised yesterday, adding that Israel has no interest in another front against Hezbollah. He said that the fighting in the Gaza Strip is progressing well and that no fuel is brought inside.

At the Gaza frontier, the tunnel war has begun. IDF forces, led by soldiers from the 460th Division of the Armored Corps, fought in the northern Gaza Strip against Hamas terrorists who attempted to attack the IDF through tunnel openings and military facilities.

During the battles, tunnel openings used for terrorist activities were exposed, and terrorist weapons and arms were located. IDF Infantry and Armored Corps troops engaged in a battle against a group of 15 Hamas militants, killing most of them.

In the southern Gaza Strip, a targeted operation was conducted to map structures and neutralize explosives. Gallant revealed that 12 Hamas commanders were killed, as the IDF is “eliminating one battalion after another.”

The IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi entered the Gaza Strip yesterday, conducted a situation assessment, and met with some of the troops.

Last night, Hamas fired a rocket toward the southern Arava region, which was intercepted by the “Arrow” missile defense system.

Since the beginning of the ground operation just over a week ago, more than 2,500 terrorist targets have been attacked by the IDF.

At the northern front, the IDF attacked Hezbollah targets in response to fire from Lebanon. Fighter jets struck terrorist infrastructure and rocket warehouses. Two Hezbollah terror units in Lebanese territory were also attacked.

On Friday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, that there will be no cease-fire without the release of the 241 hostages held captive in Gaza. From Israel, Blinken traveled to Amman, where he told the foreign ministers of Jordan and Egypt that a cease-fire at this time would only help Hamas regroup and carry out additional attacks such as the one on October 7th. He is scheduled to meet with Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah later today.
