Israel appoints new Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission

At its weekly meeting on Sunday, the Israeli Cabinet approved the appointment of Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Edri as Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission.
 
Edri (59) holds a bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern and African studies from the University of Haifa and a master's degree in public policy from Bar Ilan University. He currently serves as the Director of Special Means and as the Director for Civil Defense at the Ministry of Defense.
 
The appointment will take effect in July 2022 following completion of the transition process, the approval of the Civil Service Commission appointments committee and approval by the government.
 
Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Edri will replace the current Atomic Energy Commission Chairman, Zeev Snir, who has been serving since 2015, and will step down in June.
