The IDF reports that anti-tank fire from the northern Gaza Strip hit a vehicle in Israeli territory. The incident occurred between Kibbutz Erez and Moshav Netiv HaAsara. There is one fatality, along with one person critically wounded, one person seriously wounded and one person lightly wounded. The IDF responded with fire from the ground, the sea and the air toward targets in Gaza.

It is estimated that the objective of Hamas is to draw the IDF into a ground operation by kidnapping soldiers or citizens. At this stage, as previously mentioned, this objective has yet to be achieved. The incident comes after a predawn rocket attack on cities in southern and central Israel, and the IDF's retaliation against senior Hamas figures.

In a report by the Galei Tzahal radio station, a spokesman for Barzilai Hospital said "There are four casualties from the anti-tank fire incident, with two critically wounded, one seriously wounded and one lightly wounded. They have serious and deep wounds, some of which are life-threatening."

According to reports online, the Israeli vehicle was attacked with a combination of mortar fire and short-range rockets in an attempt to prevent IDF forces from reaching it. Residents of Netiv HaAsara were instructed to remain in shelters.
