The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces will procure 30 French-made Nexter CAESAR 155mm 6x6 self-propelled howitzers. The Army Recognition website reported that Morocco confirmed the acquisition in an article published in the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces magazine "L'escape Marocain" this summer. According to a tweet by the Defence360 microsite, the self-propelled howitzers will be based on a Sherpa 6x6 truck chassis manufactured by French company ARQUUS. In January 2020, the website of French newspaper La Tribune announced that the contract is worth €230 million.

Army Recognition said that the CAESAR system has proven itself in combat operations in Afghanistan, Mali, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, the Sahel region, the Middle East, and East Asia. The CAESAR in 6x6 and 8x8 configurations are already in service in France and other European countries, the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia. More than 300 of the mobile artillery systems have already been produced.
