Automaker AM General, which manufactures the famed Humvee, has unveiled its new version of the legendary tactical vehicle at the Association of the U.S. Army’s annual exhibition that was held digitally. The light tactical vehicle with MRAP-level protection is called the NXT 360.

According the company, the NXT 360 is the next generation of Humvee light tactical vehicle configuration for maximum commonality, simplified maintenance, and streamlined fleet sustainment. The NXT 360 ES model integrates a new digital backbone for easy diagnostics and integration of health monitoring systems. The company stated that the new vehicle provides exceptional speed, mobility, and agility across any rugged terrain in all weather conditions. In addition, the ES includes long travel suspension for increased maneuverability over the toughest of terrains.

The Defence Blog website said that a digital video camera delivers a 60°-120° field of view live feed of the outside environment to ruggedized low-latency high definition LED display on the inside of the vehicle at the passenger’s position and to the commander’s display. As a result, it eliminates the need for heavy transparent armor on rear passenger doors. The new vehicle also will be equipped with optional bolt-on armor for a higher level of kinetic energy protection; 360° kinetic energy threat protection; under-vehicle blast threat protection; blast seats, floating floor and transparent armor.

About a month ago, the U.S.-based Humvee maker announced that KPS Capital Partners LP, through a newly-formed affiliate, completed the acquisition of AM General.
